Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary!!

Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary Dad & Mom!!

In honor of this very special occasion, I thought I would take you on a trip down memory lane with old pictures and a very short version of their story and God's faithfulness over the years.

Once upon a time… a long time ago there was a beautiful princess. Well, technically she wasn’t quite a princess, but she was distantly related to one, so we are giving her that title in this story. She had big brown eyes and pigtails that were most likely the envy of every other maiden in the land. She had a very kind heart, a quick smile and a joyful spunk in her personality. One summer she decided to go spend her summer working at a youth camp in a somewhat distant, northern land.

Several hours away there was a dashing young prince. Technically, he was not actually a prince, but he definitely had princely qualities! He grew up working the land and was quite skilled in performing theatrical productions throughout his years in school. He was quieter, but a hard worker and a heart for ministry. He decided to go to a northern land and serve at that very same camp. Without knowing that true love was so close at hand, the prince settled into his lodgings. Shortly after, it was announced in the dinning hall that it was the birthday of this princess and everyone joined in to wish her the most wonderful day.

After being assigned to a group the princess headed to a staircase to meet the team. Lo and behold, she met her knight in shinning armor! Over the course of the summer they became fast friends! But it did take a lot of effort and convincing over the next 3 years to completely win the princess’ heart. Shortly after she said "Yes!" a wedding was announced!

Although it rained on their wedding day, it was a moment that would be remembered for years to come. Their first year as husband and wife they spent on the road traveling all over the U.S. with a team of young people sharing about the greatest news ever given to mankind. They helped run children’s camps, spoke in schools and churches and had numerous adventures together. Shortly after that they decided to take a leap of faith and welcome as many children as God would send them. And He did!

As the children started coming the money got tight, the nights were short and the diapers were never ending. But over and over God showed His faithfulness and provided for their needs.

(This is the exact spot where they met in 1977.
This picture was taken 29 years later when mom was expecting baby #13, Charissa)

The prince bravely started his own business and would work long days for weeks on end, the princess would lovingly care for the children and take care of the home. It was a busy, but wonderful time!

Then a dream of theirs came true! In the year 1990 they found a fixer upper house out in the country where they could live and make memories together. The prince gave it to his bride for Christmas and she was overjoyed! They had so many wonderful moments there, as well as more additions to the family! It was a lot of fun as well as work.

Then as the prince was called to lead a flock in a different place, God asked them to give up the farm they loved and move into town. It was a hard decision, but they went where God called.

While in town the children started picking up instruments and people started asking their family to sing. The first concert was daunting, but the Lord blessed their endeavors! People started asking them to travel more and more. After a lot of prayer, God provided a bus for them by giving the amount they needed to purchase one down to the very dollar.

Years went by and they traveled to about 45 states and Canada & Mexico! There were numerous stories of God providing just what they needed, when they needed it. Bus repairs, safety during their travels, safety during an accident that could have ended all of their lives. It was truly incredible!

They were able to sing at churches, banquets, prisons, county fairs and even a cattle auction. Wherever people asked them to go, they would. And God was able to use their simple endeavors to touch lives.

As their children got older, God started bringing special people to add to the family. The first four wedding celebrations came exactly 15 months apart with 2 more in the following years. And since there are several children still at home we are assuming that there will be more to come.

God then blessed the prince and princess with grandchildren to love and spoil which completely delight their hearts.

When they got married they never would have pictured where they are today.

They've had some mountain top experiences and some valleys.

But God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all they could ask or think and when two people walk faithfully where God has called them, not matter the cost, it is amazing what can be accomplished for His glory!

From all of us, your children, we want to say Thank you!!!

Happy 40th Anniversary!!
We love you so very much!

Dad & Mom's wedding passage:
"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen."

It's that time of year again!! We are beyond blessed by our dear friend who grows the best sweet corn for us to freeze every year. There were a few years that we ended up working late into the night to get it all done, but recently we've done it in smaller chunks which has been really nice. There aren't as many of us at home and so we don't end up freezing quite as much as we used to.

Because it is a longer process it makes for a lot of time to talk while we work and usually at some point we will put on music or a movie to make it go a little bit faster. I didn't get many pictures this year because our hands were pretty sticky most of the time. But we are blessed to have our freezers stocked for another year!

"He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper."

A Visit East

This year our hometown's huge Forth of July celebration was canceled which was understandable, but also sad since we've celebrated in Seward for as long as most of us can remember. I'm not sure who came up with the idea, but since states had opened up, we made sure that we were all healthy and ended up heading east to do a few concerts and spend a couple of days with Dan & Bethany in West Virginia.

We hadn't seen them for a long time and hadn't been to their house for an even longer amount of time. So this was a special treat!

The kiddos keep growing faster than ever. We got to play games, see what they are learning and projects they've made this year.

The morning of the Fourth we all went out to a farm to pick blueberries.

Obviously, by the amount of pictures you can tell that it was a fun morning activity.

Not only that, but the blueberries we picked went perfect with homemade ice cream that we enjoyed while watching fireworks that evening!

Because a lot of city celebrations have been canceled the kids were disappointed that we didn't get to go to any parades this year.

So we decided to put on a parade of our own!! We got some candy, made some quick costumes and had quite the celebration in their living room.

Thank you Dan and Bethany for the wonderful time! We love you!!
