Hershey's

A few days before our last concert which was at Dan & Bethany's church in West Virginia we had one right across the border in Pennsylvania. And since it wasn't too far from them, they popped over and surprised us for the evening!

Not only that, but they let us keep Arianna and Caden in the bus with us until Sunday. It was a lot of fun to have them travel with us!! Saturday morning we had a few free hours and so Dad decided to make a quick stop at the Hershey's Chocolate Factory.

A fun tour, a delicious sample, and chocolate everywhere you look.
You can't go wrong with that!

The kids were troopers in the bus and we had so much fun with them!! They even sang their own  song on stage!! Maybe we should start taking grandkids on the road with us more often. :)

Sunday night we made it back to Dan & Bethany's and enjoyed pulling out an old song to sing together.

Then we went to their house to enjoy a day adventuring before going home!
More pictures to follow...

Niagara Falls

We enjoyed spending some time in Canada this last weekend. The folks we've been able to meet up there have been such a blessing and encouragement to us and we are so grateful for the opportunity to make it up there every couple of years.

On our way back to the states Elizabeth figured out that Niagara Falls was only 20 minutes out of our way!! We'd been there years ago, but it'd been long enough that Charissa didn't remember it all. So we took a little time to stop and enjoy the sights!

We felt like a bunch of tourists!

Walking right up where the water goes over is the most amazing thing. Something so powerful and beautiful makes us feel so small. God's creation is truly magnificent!!

Apparently Niagara Falls is eroding about 3 feet per year. Dad said that it has eroded about 40 feet since the first year he came and saw it. I'll let you do the math to figure out what year that was.

Typically, we don't stop and sightsee very often when we are on the road, but when we do, we are so grateful for the beauty that is all around us and for the opportunity to experience it together as a family. It is not something that we take for granted!!

After that we had a little bit of time left so we stopped in some of the local shops...

and enjoyed some pineapple, mango ice cream as a special treat. It was sooo good!!

"He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that brings forth its fruit in its season,
whose leaf also shall not wither;
and whatever he does shall prosper."

A Peaceful Morning

We've been to several beaches when we travel down south, but we've never really stopped at any northern beaches. So it was a treat to be able to stop and visit Indiana Dunes Beach on Lake Michigan for a few hours last week. Here are a few pictures from our time there that I thought you might enjoy. The beauty of God's creation never ceases to amaze me!!

O Lord my God,
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all
The works Thy Hand hath made,

I see the stars,
I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy pow'r throughout
The universe displayed,

Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee,

How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!

Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!

Life On The Road

We are just over half done with our trip already! I don't know where time is going, but it's going fast! This tour we are stopping by a lot of places that we haven't been for awhile which has been really special. We are enjoying catching up with old friends and making new ones!

Since we are wanting to be fruitful with our time on the road, Elizabeth scheduled a lot of concerts in a short amount of time.  This has made our days full, but it has been good. We so appreciate your prayers and are grateful for the ways that we've seen God work on this trip already. Not only in giving us safe travels and good health, but also using the services to work in people's hearts. It has been a joy to watch and be a part of!

We have had a few free mornings that we've been able to do some "touristy" stops which has been fun! I have a bunch of pictures of those to share with y'all on another day. So far our stops have been in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Canada.

We usually arrive at a venue about 2 hours before the concert starts so that we can set up, run through some songs, eat supper, get ready and pray before the service.

In the mornings we will have family devotions, work on school, computer work, grocery shopping, do laundry, do something physically active, drive to our next location or spend time with friends in the area.

Some of us had never tried the famous deep dish pizza before, so as we travelled through the Chicago area we stopped for a special treat! It was sooo good!!

As I type this we are driving down the road headed from Canada to Ohio!

"This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it!"

Rhodes Mountain Family Music Festival

This last Friday we headed out on a three week trip. We were planning on hitting the road first thing that morning, but most everyone ended up working on an irrigation job several hours away the previous day and the last one got home at 11:30 Thursday night. So Friday morning we all got up and packed as fast as we could and ended up pulling out of the driveway around 1:00pm.

The first stop on this trip was at the Rhodes Mountain Family Music Festival in Missouri. Some friends of ours, the Punches family started it a few years ago, and it was a joy to be there again this year!!! They always have it on the last full weekend of September. If that is something you would enjoy, mark your calendars for 2020!!

Not only is there a lot of music, but there are games, activities, food, campfires, instrument workshops and a whole lot of fun and fellowship.

After singing twice on Saturday at the festival we headed over to northern Missouri and sang twice on Sunday. The pastor at Sunday morning's church was one that we had met in Hulett, Wyoming back in 2003. What God did during our time out there was absolutely incredible and it was one of those experiences that that we will never forget!! Then Sunday evening we sang at our Aunt's church. So both of those were special services!

Last night we sang in Arthur, IL and today we are enjoying a travel day! We appreciate prayers for the next couple of weeks as we will be traveling in the Northeastern states and a little bit into Canada sharing what God has done in our own lives. We'd love to have you join us if we stop in your area!! You can click this link to check out our schedule on our website.

Many years ago, when we started traveling and sharing music the following verses became our theme. And they still ring true today!!

"I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth -- Praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord." Psalms 40:1-3
