Family Camp

This is a little bit late, but I thought these pictures and a recap of the Homeschool Family Camp would be fun to share. This was our 13th annual camp that we co-host with the Bontrager family and the Bowers family and every year we go away encouraged and blessed. The conversations, the friendships, the teaching, the activities, the time to relax are all so refreshing!

There are sessions during the morning and evenings and then the afternoons are free for activities, sports, and fellowship.

During one afternoon we play a big sport that is a camp favorite! It's hard to explain on here, but it's kind of like a massive version of Capture The Flag that anyone can play.

It's called Mighty Mighty Scoop Noodle Challenge!

Acting out the life of Mary Slessor during one of the mornings.

Ryan & Ruth were able to join us for a few days and it was SO good to see them again!!

Mom sharing during one of the mother/daughter sessions.

If you are looking for someplace to go as a family we'd love you have you join us at the 2020 family camp!

Charissa

Happy 13th Birthday Charissa!

It is so hard to believe that our youngest is already a teenager! I will absolutely never forget the moment we saw her for the first time (click HERE or HERE for pictures), picking out her name and all of the incredible baby moments that followed.

Instead of doing a post about what Charissa has been up to this last year, (which is pretty much summed up in school, family activities, keeping her title as the favorite aunt, and steadily growing up and expanding her interests and skills) I'm going to post about a surprise we were able to pull off to welcome in her 13th birthday!

Since 13 is a big birthday we wanted to take some time to do something special, but since our schedule is constantly changing we didn't know exactly what that would look like until two days before. A few phone calls and pulling out some decorations in storage and the plan was in motion!

Wednesday morning after running some errands with mom she arrived home to find a spot cleared out in our trees (thanks to Nathanael & Elizabeth) decorations hanging, a table full of food and a group of dear friends.

Lots of special breakfast foods, games, a time of encouragement from God's word and a good amount of laughter.

Happy 13th Birthday Charissa! We love you so much!!

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

Elizabeth

Happy Birthday Elizabeth!
(a few days late)

The first thing that pops into my head when I think of Elizabeth is that she is a person of diligence and kindness. She is continually doing things that make everything run smoothly and neatly, but in such a peaceful and quiet way that you don't notice everything she does unless you are watching her or she's gone for a week.

She continues to work for Wissmann Enterprises installing underground irrigation systems as well as cleaning house and teaching guitar for some local people.

If you ever have a project that needs done you can count on Elizabeth making it happen. She is always down for helping with projects! Whether it's canning a bunch of produce from our garden, painting backdrops for children ministries or numerous other things that come up.

Growing up she was always a tomboy and she still enjoys spending time outdoors and being physically active as much as possible!!

Auntie is a favorite title for her! She enjoys baby-sitting or just spending time with the various nieces and nephews whenever she can.

We are so grateful for you, Elizabeth!!
Looking forward to seeing what God has in store for this next year.

We love you!!

Bethany

I know this is long overdue, but here is a quick update on what Dan & Bethany are up to these days!
Life is busy with four littles, and we don't get to see them very often since they live out in West Virginia. But we are so grateful for modern technology that still lets us be a part of their everyday lives and see pictures and videos from their latest adventure!

Dan still works as an attorney for the Home School Legal Defense Association. This last spring he traveled quite a bit during the weekends to different homeschool conferences. Both Dan and Bethany are very intentional when it comes to relationships! Whether it's with their kids, family, church or community, It is fun to see them investing right where they are at.

Arianna (7), Caden (5), Everett (2) and Gemma (11 months) keep growing and learning! Bethany will send us their latest quips and it keeps us wishing that West Virginia and Nebraska were not quite so far apart.

A couple of weeks ago they started their school year. Ari has become quite the reader and all of the other kids love sitting down with a book!

It is fun to watch Arianna's joy at finally having a little sister and Caden & Everett seem to thoroughly enjoy being able to play sports or cars together.

Dan & Bethany do a great job at finding and exploring local spots of interest! Sometimes it includes a picnic, searching for caterpillars, visiting historical towns or simply going out for an ice cream cone.

We love y'all and miss you tons!!

"But grow in then grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever."

The Heartbeat Of The Mission

There's a call going out
Across the land in every nation

A call to those who swear allegiance to the cross of Christ

A call to true humility, to live our live responsibly
To deepen our devotion to the cross at any price

To love the Lord our God
Is the heartbeat of our mission

The spring from which our service overflows

Across the street
Or around the world

The mission's still the same

Proclaim and live the Truth
In Jesus' name

As a candle is consumed by the passion of the flame
Spilling light unsparingly throughout a darkened room

Let us burn to know Him deeper
Then our service flaming bright

Will radiate his passions
And blaze with holy light

"All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord,
And all the families of the nations shall worship before you."
Psalms 22:27
