One of our favorite things about traveling is getting to experience different foods and cultures! This has broadened our tastes in trying out new foods and added a lot of favorite new recipes to our family menus. I think that is why we started doing "round the world" evenings! We will pick a country, look up several of their traditional recipes and plan an entire meal as authentic as we can. St. Patricks Day is the perfect time to pull out as much Irish as we can. Some years we just make a traditional dish or two, but this year we decided to go all out!
First up - food prep!
We try to pick out recipes that at least look appetizing and so far have not been disappointed.
Then comes the set up, decorations and some Ireland quiz games. It ends up being not only a fun experience for everyone, but an educational one as well!!
This year some of the dishes we made were Dublin Coddle, Irish Soda Bread, Corn beef, a cabbage dish and some other dishes... And of course, a special Irish apple cake for dessert.
Usually we invite a friend or two or some family to join us. It ends up being a thoroughly enjoyed evening!! And I think everyone is getting the facts about Ireland down... most people got a good score on the quiz this year!! What country should we do next?!
"All the ends of the world
shall remember and turn to the Lord,
and all the families of the nations
shall worship before You."
