Fall Festivities

While we were in West Virginia fall hit in full force! So on the weekend we went out to enjoy some of the seasonal activities.

Who doesn't enjoy an apple orchard?

Each of the kids had their own buckets to fill up with apples. It was so fun watching/helping them find the perfect ones!

Holding little Gemma was one of the best parts!

Then we were off to look at the animals!

cold and heat, winter and summer,
And day and night shall not cease."

Visiting Dan & Bethany

Tuesday morning bright and early Susanna and I flew out to West Virginia to visit Dan and Bethany for about 10 days. It was beyond fun to spend time with them!! We packed a lot into the visit and so I am going to share a couple different posts with pictures.

During our time there we made a list of new recipes that we wanted to try out. I think all of them were a success!!

Saturday we all put on our red and cheered on the huskers. They didn't win that game, but we still had fun cheering them on, talking during commercials and eating snacks.

One of the evenings we popped over to Harpers Ferry for a couple hours. It was gorgeous!!

And the day before we had to fly out we went out for ice cream so that we wouldn't feel quite so sad that the trip was already over.

So many special moments, so many wonderful memories.
Thank you Dan & Bethany, Arianna, Caden, Everett and Gemma!!

And righteousness from the God of his salvation."

First week of October

The first week of October a few of us headed down to Kansas to help Alan and Rachel do some painting in their new house. I can't wait to share pictures of it when they move in!! All of their work has made for an incredible transformation. That same weekend the rest of the family came down for a weekend of concerts in the Kansas area.

We arrived home Monday and enjoyed a family evening together before Susanna and I flew out the next morning. But I'll share more about that later.

Holding the new nephew was a special part of the week!

The guys were busy working during the day, but the evening and weekends were filled with random projects and a quick trip to Missouri.

The second weekend in October the temperatures dropped all of the sudden and a few hours later our lawn was covered in snow!!! We held off putting up all of our Christmas decorations, but Christmas music was being played all over the house! Sunday lunch was eaten in the sunroom to enjoy as much of the snow as possible while it lasted.

"Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow."

New Baby

Since some of our married siblings live far away we don't always get to see the new babies when they are still that tiny newborn size. So it was extra special for Dad and Mom to be able to make a quick trip to West Virginia to meet baby Gemma Lynne Beasley right after our Grandparents' farm auction the end of September.

By the smiles on their faces I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed the visit!

"Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits."

We are back!

Almost three weeks have gone by without an update on our blog?! I think that is the longest stretch I've done all year!

The last few weeks have been full, but so special and I have a lot of pictures to prove it! So check back soon!!

Jerit Daniel

It's a BOY!!

Jerit Daniel was born on the morning of October 3rd and has already delighted all of us with his sweet personality!

The name Jerit is the German alternate version of Jerry... named after our dear Grandpa Gerald "Jerry" Hager. It was extra special to that he was born on what would have been our grandparents 64th wedding anniversary.

Jerit Daniel means
"May the Lord exalt as a gentle & kind leader. God is my Judge."

Congratulations Ryan & Ruth and Lee on this precious little bundle!!!

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul."

Auction

September 22 there was an auction at our Grandparents farm to sell the tractors, antiques, tools and so much more that Grandpa had collected in his sheds.

Over the course of this summer we took turns being up there along with Mom's siblings to help sort through things and get ready for it. The week before the sale we were all there working till dark each day to get everything ready!

It was amazing to see some of the things Grandpa had in the sheds. We ended up with a long line of bikes, a long line of milk cans, a long line of tractors, a huge stack of old wooden doors, lots of lawn mowers, boxes of tools and so much more!! I think we ended up filling the back of 10 trailers with the small items and then the entire lawn was filled with the bigger equipment.

Throughout the week there were moments of tears when missing Grandpa and moments of laughter when finding something funny to try out.

After the work was done Friday night we grabbed a few pictures with some of his cool cars.

We are so grateful for all of the friends that came to help get things ready and brought food for us. By the end everyone was really tired, but grateful for how everything went.  At the end of it all the quote that comes to mind is:  "Remember, the most important things aren't things!"

"You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus."
2 Timothy 2:1
