A Branson Christmas Part 2

What Child is this who laid to rest,
On Mary's lap is sleeping?

Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping.

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.

Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Why lies He in such mean estate,
Where ox and ass are feeding?

Good Christian fear for sinners near,
The silent Word is pleading.

Nails, spear shall pierce Him through,
The cross be born for me, for you.

Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh,
Come peasant, king to own Him.

The King of kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him!

Raise, raise the song on high,
The virgin sings her lullaby!

Joy, joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Joy, joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!

Happy Thanksgiving

...from our family to yours!

We're abundantly grateful this year.

For family & friends.
Those of you who share in our lives & God's adventures each year.
Two new grand-babies on the way.
Protection and health.
...and the list continues in rapid succession...

But most of all, we're thankful for the Lord's never-ceasing faithfulness, which we rely upon each and every day.

He is worthy of all praise!

"Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His,
And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name."

A Family Visit

Last weekend we had the joy of family visiting us here in Branson. Josiah & Andrew's families traveled down from Nebraska to spend a few days...and we made the most of every moment together!

Of course, there was much food, conversation, and laughter all around. A highlight of the weekend was being able to spend an afternoon at Silver Dollar City, one of our favorite places here in the Ozarks:

Riding roller-coasters

Enjoying the ol'-time, historic atmosphere.

Smiles all around!

The grand Christmas tree lighting.

Showing Joanna & Asher around

So many lights!

This was a new favorite: Fireman's landing.

The one place where you can catapult, fire, or throw foam balls at unsuspecting (or eagerly retaliating) 'foes'. How can our competitive family resist?!

Even Asher got into the action!

Josiah & Abi

Hmmmm...looks like someone is ready for action?!

And we discovered that Josiah's children seem to like action rides almost as much as he does.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree?!

Unto us a Son is given;..."

A Branson Christmas Part 1

We're just beginning our third week of Christmas here in Branson, Missouri. And what a precious, packed, eventful three weeks we've had thus far. Life is settling into a regular routine now that rehearsals are behind us, and each day is a new opportunity to meet people & share the timeless Christmas message!

With many thanks to Kori for her photography, here is a glimpse of this year's production:

Love came gently, soft as a baby,
Born to a lowly virgin girl.

Wrapped in rags and laid in a manger,
Love came gently to our world.

No applause, no fanfare of trumpets
Heralding Hope had come to earth.

For the Promised tenderly entered,
Choosing instead a humble birth.

Only shepherds and the wisest,
Found Him beneath the stars so bright.

While the nations lay deep in slumber,
Love came gently in the night.

No applause, no fanfare of trumpets,
Heralding Hope had come to earth.

For the Promised tenderly entered,
Choosing instead a humble birth.

Love came gently, sweetly to save us,
Knowing the price He had to pay.

And to all who trust in the Savior,
Love comes gently still today.

Love comes gently still today!

Preparations Continue

We're in Branson! The past several days have been a fast-paced mixture of rehearsals and attention to details as we count down only a couple more days until our Christmas show officially begins. We've really been in awe of how the Lord has gone before us here -- and almost daily we've experienced specific answers to prayer. We're so grateful!

Again this year, our show contains over 300 costume items, so the hauling and setting up of our dressing rooms took a bit of coordination and organization. We're often reminded that 'many hands make light work'...and are glad for all the teamwork we can experience in pulling together toward a common goal. Everyone has their strengths and we rely on each person playing their unique role.

And here are a few photos from the past couple days:

Unloading the bus & trailer

Getting all the sound equipment moved in

Setting up the dressing rooms

The large stack of instruments... 20 total for our Christmas show!

Practice, practice, practice!

In addition to fine-tuning all the musical aspects of the show, we also rehearse choreography, lighting, sound, and dialog.

Mom at the hammered dulcimer

Endurance. Patience. Cooperation. Stamina.

All essential traits we have plenty of opportunity to practice!

Checking sound settings

Meanwhile, our dressing rooms often turn into a makeshift kitchen as we prepare meals and eat on the 'go'.

Break time

And time to re-fuel!

Again, we're so grateful for your prayers as you walk this exciting journey with us! We're looking forward to sharing more in the coming week as we are officially up and running on Wednesday. We sincerely pray that this Christmas will be one of increased opportunity to share both the message and HOPE of the season -- found in Jesus Christ.
