Still in Love

After 34 years of marriage, Dad & Mom still hold hands every chance they get.

We Remember

Today we remember: Sacrifice. Courage. Heroism.

To live in the land of the free and the home of the brave is not without price. Throughout America's history, liberty has come at a high cost. The empty chair. The yellow ribbon. The gold star.

The fallen soldier.

Growing up, our grandpa told us stories of his service in the Korean War. He taught us by words and example to have great respect for our veterans,  our soldiers, our flag, and our heritage.

So today we remember. Freedom isn't free.

Susanna's Graduation

Milestones are for celebrating.

We all gathered to celebrate with Susanna this spring as she reached the milestone of her high school graduation. It's been quite a journey as Dad & Mom have been homeschooling for the past 28 years. We're so grateful for this opportunity and the many blessings it has brought to our family.

Honestly, education has taken many forms over the years as we moved from a quiet, scheduled country life, to the activity of living in town with constant drop-in visitors. And finally, we adjusted to bus-school as we packed along our piles of books for each ministry tour. The studies were accomplished as the road sped under the bus tires...or in a church basement...or sitting at a Walmart parking lot.

After all those adventures and obstacles, Susanna has completed her work.

During the Nebraska Christian Home Educator's Convention, they honor the graduates as part of their evening ceremony. We cheered and applauded as our Susanna took the stage.

Congratulations Susanna!

After the ceremony, Kori captured a kaleidoscope of photos as we all wanted a picture with the graduate. Or with a random sibling. Or just a crazy photo simply because we all happened to be in the same spot TOGETHER!

Family. Always treasured. Ever thankful!

Have you noticed that our guys always have to get a 'faux-serious' pose?

Brothers!

As we all were randomly taking photos, we realized that it happened to be "National Siblings Day".
So we gathered the entire crew and captured one photo with all 13 of us!

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!

CD Photography

Coordinating schedules when we're at home has its challenges. With multiple work projects always on deck and various other commitments, we knew it was time to plan ahead and block out an afternoon for a CD photo shoot. With our newest recording in the finishing stages, we're now turning our attention to the colors/layout/design category.

So we enlisted one of our talented family photographers (thanks, Kori!) and set the date.

Yesterday afternoon arrived -- and with it, the forecast of a down-pouring rain.

Great. Rain is certainly not conducive to an outdoor photo-shoot! Did we have a plan B?

At the last minute, we decided to pray for a window of clear weather and attempt as many photos as possible before the oncoming storm arrived. Everyone sprang into action!

And what an answer to prayer: The rain held off and we were able to capture everything we were hoping to shoot! We loaded into the vans & by the time we reached home, we were soaked in the predicted rain showers.

Thank the Lord!

While Kori captured the 'real' photos, Andrew grabbed our alternate camera and snapped a few very random, crazy moments that are bound to happen every time we attempt a nice, classic shoot. So, while the final photos are still in production, here's a glimpse of yesterday's action:

I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,

And I will glorify Your name forevermore.

Trying New Things

Sometimes its good to try new things. There are always the expected growing pains and the uncomfortable stretch of learning something new.

But sometimes the process makes you appreciate the simplicity of the old ways.

This is the story of our blog this year.

With our new website update, we tried to integrate the blog directly into the site format. But for us, uploading photos, resizing photos, editing text, and all the 'ins-and-outs' of blogging became an overwhelming mountain. And since squeezing in blogging time is already a challenge for us, we just couldn't figure out a way to make it simple and do-able.

And so we return to our familiar, comfortable blog home. Welcome back!

Meanwhile, the months of 2015 have marched forward in rapid succession. Our days have been filled with lots of action:
  • Recording: We're thrilled to have two new music projects set to release later this year!
  • Music: New songs & arrangements have been occupying our recent practice time.
  • Touring: We've hit the road for several weekend tours here in the midwest.
  • Fieldwork
  • Gardening
  • Children's Ministry
  • Susanna's high school graduation
...along with a host of other activities. We have photos to upload and updates to share. And now that we're back in our familiar place, we look forward to sharing these moments.

For now, we'll leave you with some photos from a recent concert:

will extol You, my God, O King;
And I will bless Your name forever and ever.

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;
And His greatness is unsearchable.

One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.

Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts,And I will declare Your greatness.

The LORD is gracious and full of compassion,
Slow to anger and great in mercy.

The LORD is good to all,
And His tender mercies are over all His works.

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD,
And all flesh shall bless His holy name
Forever and ever!
