Family Christmas

The weekend before Christmas, we all gathered for a couple days together to enjoy our family celebration time in Branson. What a treat! Since this was our 4th holiday season in the Branson area, it has become almost a second home for us. And with all the married families and grandchildren, it was a couple days packed with action, conversation, competition, and music. Here are a few of the highlights:

We spent one afternoon at Silver Dollar City. There's something extra special about experiencing the awe and delight of Christmas through the eyes of little people!

We packed into our little cabin for mealtimes. The littles did a great job eating with these trays.

Another highlight was our annual gift exchange. We draw names and the youngest members of the family always help deliver the packages.

Matthias & Hannah

Ever artistic, Hannah added her fancy calligraphy to Andrew's gift.

Arianna & Ruth

Alan & Rachel were given a new game for Christmas: Tenzi. We invented our own twist to the game and had a complete blast playing it -- and sharing it with friends.

On our final show in Branson, we had the entire family here to share the event. We brought them all on stage to share a song together.

And we wrapped up our several -day vacation with a visit to the Dixie Stampede. Dad & Mom bought red sweaters for all the guys, so the were decked out in style for the event.

What a joy to have this priceless family time! Not pictured are the intense volleyball games, late night chats, mealtime treats, and hugs all around. Thank the Lord for family!!

"Then the angel said to them,
“Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people."

That's a Wrap

The curtain has closed on our 2014 Branson show. The dressing rooms are packed up and the bus pulled out of the familiar parking lot earlier this afternoon.

Was it only 4 months ago we committed to this venture? We wish we could personally thank so many of you who have upheld us in prayer over the past many weeks. We've had a show in Branson for 3 previous years, but we've certainly sensed the Lord's blessing in even more tremendous ways this season. Great conversations. Favor with the local establishments. Strength and health. And meeting many of you, our blog family.

We're so grateful!

Many of you have asked if this year's show was recorded for DVD -- and unfortunately, we weren't able to pull that project off this year. However, we're already looking forward to returning to Branson for November/December 2015, so stay tuned!

Additionally -- for our Iowa friends -- don't miss our final performance this coming Sunday.

And here are a few more photos:

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,
full of grace and truth.

Dan & Bethany

A very happy 5th anniversary to Dan & Bethany!

Read Bethany's sweet thoughts on their five years together on her blog.

"Two are better than one,
Because they have a good reward for their labor.
Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken."

The Boys

A few more pictures from our Christmas show. This is our after-intermission part of the show... which is different every single morning! The guys have a great time interacting with the folks in the crowd. Branson draws a nation-wide audience, so we typically have multiple states represented in each crowd. The guys enjoy being candid on stage...and they also throw in a couple lighthearted musical numbers.

South-of-the-border Christmas anyone?

Matthias and Stephen have been keeping our family in stitches & laughter since they were ages 2 & 4. Anyone who has spent time with them would probably agree.
Its great fun hearing their quips and quotes on stage.

"A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones."

Christmas at Home

This past weekend we had the privilege of sharing our Christmas program with our hometown community of Seward, Nebraska. It was a special time, as many of the people in the crowd have invested in our lives over the 33 years we've lived in Seward county. They've watched the children grow up. Cheered our first attempts at music. And encouraged our family in numerous ways.

It was such a joy to celebrate Christmas at home.

Kori captured a few pictures from the event. We brought all the costumes, equipment, and props. What a great evening!

It's Branson tradition to share a patriotic tribute.

This year we're making these lovely scarves available after our concerts. They are sewn by Christian widows oversees as a means of support for them and their children. And the scarves are simply beautiful! What girl doesn't need an extra scarf in her closet?!

The grand finale of the show - Joy to the World!

And afterwards, Kori documented a Wissmann semi-tradition. Yes, the 'crash' after the concert. It was around midnight before we were wrapped up at the auditorium and back home again. And we were ravenously hungry!! Who doesn't like cold cereal for a midnight snack?

But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name
Be joyful in You."

Music of the Season

Another week has begun. After a whirlwind weekend to our hometown in Nebraska, we're back for our two final weeks in Branson. We're so grateful for the the warm response we've received this year -- and for the great conversations we've had with so many people.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, Bethany & Kori were here (with their respective families, of course) and they captured many great photos from the show. Today I pulled out some of the pictures from our 'Evergreen' attire. This part of the show includes more music of a classical nature, including our brand new string quartet. Yes, Matthias invested in a viola, so our quartet is now complete!

This part of the show is also when we share the Christmas story intermingled with the powerful song, "Love Came Gently." You'll notice by the final pictures that we even had a guest 'baby Jesus' join the show over Thanksgiving weekend. Caden did a stellar job!

Again, we post these pictures to say 'thank you' for joining us in this endeavor through your ongoing prayers. We're really so grateful and have seen specific answers over these past weeks. And now for more pictures:

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counsellor,
The mighty God,
The everlasting Father,
 The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
