A Time for Planting:

"For everything there is a season..." And for our family, planting season is just wrapping up. We had an assortment of seed left over from last year's planting. We weren't sure if many of them would germinate, so we planted an abundance of flats on our sunporch a couple months ago. Well, lo and behold, all of the seed germinated! We now have them all transplanted into the gardens and are watching the little plants take off and grow!

Are we crazy for planting 157 tomato plants?!...34 pepper plants?! This is our largest garden yet, but we all love canning, freezing, and dehydrating the produce. I'd say we have a busy summer/fall ahead of us!

Do you have a garden this year?! What are your favorite veggies to grow?!

“While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat,
Winter and summer,
And day and night
Shall not cease.”

Cruise Finale

I just looked through my blog drafts and realized I never finished posting pictures from our recent cruise. What a special, delightful, refreshing time it was for our family. We're so grateful for this opportunity! It was such a precious joy to meet some of you, our blog readers. To marvel at the Lord's awesome handiwork around us. And to lift our voices in joyful song each evening. The whole week was truly remarkable.

Here are the final pictures from our week:

Ice cream smiles.
And do I see a bit of sunburn on those faces?!

We helped lead a morning of children's ministry.
Drama and music are a powerful way of sharing Biblical truth with children.

We spent a day a Key West, Florida.
Of course, we had to taste their famous key lime pie!

The architecture and foliage was so unique and tropical.

Can you guess where we are?!

We found a coconut vender and bought a couple fresh coconuts from her. She drilled a hole in the coconut for us to drink the coconut milk, but had us crack them open ourselves. Andrew made it look easy.

Mmmmmm! Most of us liked the mild coconut flavor. Refreshing on a hot day!

And some of us found some less-healthy local treats.

A piece of our home state!

The adventurers

Each night was such a special time with our tour group. There were several ministry teams on board and every evenings we heard from most of them. We sang each night and had such an amazing time of worship and encouragement. The evenings flew so quickly!

At the end of the evening, most of the teams would gather on stage for some group music and sing-alongs.

Our whole crew.

As a side note, are you looking for a special marriage-get-away?
Or perhaps a unique family trip?
Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement!

"He has made His wonderful works to be remembered:
the Lord is gracious and full of compassion."

Family Cookout

With Dad and Mom out of town during Dad's birthday (attending a We Care board meeting), the brainstorming for a belated party began. With a load of scrap wood in our burn pile, we decided a family cookout night would be just the thing! We have the perfect spot beyond the windbreak behind our house. Let the preparations begin!

Carrying out the food.

Preparing the roasting sticks

The summertime feast

Happy Birthday!!!

Sisters = best friends

The weather was absolutely PERFECT for the evening

Picnic fun

Alaythia made dad his favorite dessert - cherry pie!

Of course you can't have a bonfire without s'mores!

As the evening wound down, we pulled out the guitar out and made some merry music.

What priceless moments, these memories made as a family.

“Now therefore, our God,
We thank You
And praise Your glorious name."

Spring Things

Spring has officially 'sprung' and we're enjoying these warm, sunny days. The men have been putting in full days in the fields; Matthias and Stephen each leading a crew. And our girls alternate between home projects and helping with the irrigation crew. Its been a full few weeks! Here are a few of the activities from home:

We were grateful for a rainy day last week, which brought the guys home for a day and was refreshing to all of us. It was great to jam with the guys again.

Finishing up the spring schoolwork

Spring happiness in a picture.

Setting up a fence for our chickens.

The crew

We've been planting in our garden these days. Its so fun to see these little plants take off and grow!

But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name
Be joyful in You.
