CD Update

Photo by Kori Wissmann for the CD project

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths." Prov 3:5-6

This verse rings so true right now as I'm sitting here reflecting on our week.

It was crazy.
It was jam-packed.
It was good.

Every morning, we'd leave around 7:30am for the studio and arrive home by 6:30pm. Just in time to jump into the major project for the evening -- which varied from photo shoot prep, to music practice, to actual photo shoots and random planning sessions.

The Lord also surprised us by adding some very sweet, energetic little voices to our choir in the form of some dear friends of ours, the Stangl family. Their vocals were a joyful addition, as the 'little people' in our family are quickly growing into adult voices! The children's voices blended so well -- and the companionship made for a very fun recording experience. (Everything is more fun with friends, right?!)

Additionally, the 18 different instruments were such a delight! Matthias arranged the music with such variety, as fitting the various songs. The cowboy/harmonica campfire. The Hebrew tambourine. The orchestral lilt. The military march. The toe-tapping polka. Each song was so fresh, new, and....well, FUN!

And as we recorded each song; as the children sang with such energy and sweetness, the lyrics seemed to jump off the page at me. What a precious thing it is to hear children lifting their voices in praise. To hear Scripture put to song. To have truth expressed in a memorable way. We pray this will minister and be a blessing in many homes. Thank you for joining us in lifting up this project -- especially this week!

The recording is now finished and the mixing process has begun. Here are a few more pictures from the studio:

Getting set up for day #1

The ukulele -- such a great sound!

Our mini orchestra

And another great last-minute addition, played by our friend, Josiah Stangl

This little lady (age 4) has the clearest, sweetest voice you could imagine. She bravely followed her brothers and sisters into the (somewhat intimidating) studio and sang like a pro. So precious!

Directing the sweet trio.

And these guys gave 100% energy.
Wow. A music director's dream!

Stay tuned....

Praise the LORD!
For it is good to sing praises to our God;
For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.

A New Production

Hello friends! Rachel here, from the amber fields of Kansas. Yes, wheat harvest is in full swing and my recent delight is delivering lunches to the combine...and keeping my wonderful farmer company as he brings in the golden harvest. Every season is full of new adventures on the farm! I'm taking pictures and hope to share more later.

But for now, I'm excited to share a new project which has been in the works for the past several months. Well,... years actually! A long-time dream has been to complete a recording project of original children's music. Over the past 7+ years I've been thrilled to be involved in helping to create children's music/curriculum, both as part of our family ministry team and with the NCHEA Kid's Conference.

I prayed about trying to squeeze in a recording project last spring before our wedding, but time slipped away too quickly. However, Alan has the same vision and enthusiasm, so he encouraged me to lead the children's choir here at our local church and spend time writing more music to complete the project in 2013.

Thus, next week we look forward to actually recording all 20 of the children's songs I've written over the years. To those familiar with our family's children ministry, you'll recognize songs such as, "Alpha, Omega", "Jehovah Reigns", "Stand for Truth", and others. Several will be new, as I've just completed them this past year.

Would you join us in praying for this project?! Our goal is to provide a meaningful children's recording with solid lyrics, cheerful melodies, and creative instrumentation. We have big days ahead of us and will specifically need wisdom and strength to record these songs. Typically we enter the studio having rehearsed the songs on stage many, many times. We won't have that advantage with this project. May the Lord's power be evident as we trust in Him!

Matthias has been working with the family instrumentalists to bring the songs to life with creative arrangements. In fact, he's picked up a few new instruments to feature, including the ukulele and mountain dulcimer. In all, we plan to include 18 different instruments! I'm excited to see how it all comes together!

For those of you who so graciously pray with us on these recording projects, I'll be posting daily  updates on our family Facebook page. We begin recording early on Monday morning.

I'm so thankful for you -- our friends and online community -- for the encouragement you are to our family and to myself personally.

Continuing in HIS Love,
Rachel

Note: For those of you who are curious, the family's newest CD project is making progress as well! They had a number of setbacks due to their work and travel schedule, but they hope to debut the new album by mid-summer. I've heard most of the completed tracks and they are fantastic!

"And let us consider one another in order
to stir up love and good works,
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,
as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another,
and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."
Hebrews 10:24-25

Let Freedom Sing Returns!

We're very excited to announce that the patriotic musical, "Let Freedom Sing!" is once again coming to life on stage this summer! With several new cast members and added dramatic elements, we're excited to present this year's production. If you're in the area, please join us for one (or both!) performances.

We covet your prayers as we work on the final details this coming week. May the Lord be glorified and His Word proclaimed!

Silver Dollar City

Having performed in Branson for three Christmas seasons, the Ozark mountains have almost become a second home for our family. In the midst of our busy irrigation season, it was great to take a quick break and spend some time together at our favorite park, Silver Dollar City, during their Bluegrass and BBQ festival. What a special weekend!

Sharing a few songs on the stage.

"Hallelujah, I'm ready to go!"

The girls.

In addition to singing, we had several hours to enjoy the festivities of the park.

Someone may be having a bit too much fun?!

Smiles!

It was an extra bonus to have Andrew and Kori along for the weekend!

my soul also, which You have redeemed."
