Rachel

Happy Birthday Rachel!

created at TagCrowd.com

Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Ps 34:8

Note: This year for our birthday posts, we're taking a 'family poll', asking for words that best describe that person. Rachel's result is the word cloud above!

ReNew Hope!

Sunday morning found our family in Montgomery Alabama listening to different speakers, preparing to go once again into five different prisons in the state of Alabama during the next week.

The theme for the crusade this year is ReNew Hope. They emphasized that God has given everyone a story to share, some full of blessings and others hard and challenging. Some are in the beginning chapters and others are finishing up. Yet He has given us this story to glorify Himself and share with others. Not just while we're here in the prisons but when we are at home, with our friends, neighbors, co-workers, or acquaintances. Share what God has done in your life and God will use it in theirs!

Last night we had our first service behind bars and it went really well! We praise the Lord for the lives that were touched and saved. We would appreciate your prayers as we continue in the prisons till Thursday. And then in the South Carolina prisons from February 10 - 14.

For those of you who are interested in praying with us each night of the crusade, we're posting quick, daily updates and reports on our family's Facebook page.

'I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness, And will hold your hand; I will keep you and give you as a covenant to the people...to open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.'
Isaiah 42:6-7

Mexico

This year when we were in Texas we had the opportunity to again visit Mexico for a morning. It was chilly and drizzly outside (a REAL Mexican winter) which kept the crowds away but was still a lot of fun! Most all of us had been to this particular town one time or another in past years but due to some being sick we'd always been missing one or two. So we were grateful that all of us were healthy and able to enjoy our visit in Mexico together!

Pass around equal amounts of dough. Set the timer for 3 minutes...

...and let your creativity fly!

Finally, admire the works of art around you.

Moving Day

One blessing of touring is the opportunity to hear and see what the Lord is doing around the country. Dad and Mom have always shared with us that often 'real ministry' happens by simple, behind-the-scenes serving. And today we were excited to share in a bit of that hidden work.

The Sammy Tippit ministry, based in Texas, is involved with church planting and mission work around the globe. And the timing of our trip through their area couldn't have been better. They were planning to move their ministry office to a larger building on the exact day we had availible. Since many hands make light work, we were able to put our 'pent-up-in-the-bus' energies to good use...and enjoy their fellowship at the same time!

It's time!

This last month we've enjoyed our winter wonderland.

Nebraska's version of sledding.
{Being pulled behind a four wheeler on a sled is so fun!}

But we are also looking forward to whats next as well! This Wednesday we head south and will be gone for 2 months. We would so appreciate your prayers as we will be singing in many churches as well as doing the prison crusades in Alabama and South Carolina. You can check our schedule here to see if we'll be in your area!

So this last week has been filled with preparing, packing, and sewing new singing outfits. Our good friend Anna came out to help us with the sewing part and we enjoyed the time together before we leave!

The bus is cleaned, the bags are being packed and we are looking forward to see what God has in store!

I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

Branson

"...Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord,
And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done."
Psalms 78:4

We have had the opportunity to "live" in Branson for the Christmas season in 2008, 2009, and 2010 which we all greatly enjoyed.  We saw the Lord's hand do "exceedingly, abundantly, above all we could ask or think."  It definitely feels like a second home for all of us! We missed being there during the Christmas season of 2011. So all of us were thrilled when Dad and Mom told us that, this year, their Christmas present to us was going to be a weekend trip to Branson!!!!!!

It was so amazing to see all the ways God blessed the trip and answered prayer!

One way in particular was the timing of the irrigation work.  The week before we left we were still working in the fields, installing the irrigation systems, and looking forward to leaving on Thursday, the 6th of December. Then we found out that before we could leave we had to install a system in a 160 acre field with 3,000 connections!  We started the job on Saturday, and worked hard Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We were so thankful that the weather was good, the job went smoothly, and we were able to finish it Wednesday night! YAY!!! We joyfully hopped in 2 vehicles Thursday morning and started the drive to Branson, MO.  Andrew & Kori rode down with us, and Alan and Rachel left Kansas at just the right time, so that we all arrived in Branson within 5 minutes of each other!

Friday,  we headed off to enjoy the day at Silver Dollar City. Which is a favorite place for all of us! Josiah, Abi and their kids arrived around noon and Dan, Bethany and Arianna flew in from Wisconsin early afternoon.

 The weather was gorgeous, the rides were awesome, and the time with family was priceless.

:: Stephen & Asher ::

It was so fun to see the younger ones enjoy it as well. Charissa and Joanna LOVED the rides!

We were able to stay at a friend's condo which was so nice. There was enough room for all of us to spread out and enjoy the time together.
We all enjoyed watching Charissa and the grandkids play.

Then Saturday evening we went to see The Sight and Sound Theater's drama 'Joseph'. I would highly recommend it. From the music, to the actors, the choreography, the atmosphere, everything was SO well done! We're so grateful for their ministry! The message was incredibly powerful as well and much needed in today's culture. They brought out the power of forgiveness. Joseph chose not to live for himself and what he wanted, but for God's glory. To forgive those who had hurt him. And because of that God was able to greatly use him! Even though it sometimes seems impossible to forgive someone, it is something that God calls us to do as His children. God has forgiven us SO much, how can we ignore that and not forgive someone else?!

Thank you, Dad and Mom for everything.
We love you!

"This will be written for the generation to come,
That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD."
