Field Days

There's nothing like being out in the crisp, fall air. And lately, we've been getting an extra dose! Our mornings start before the crack of dawn with an active kitchen, getting all the lunches prepared and packaged. Then we bundle up and head out to the fields.

This was a busy day as we had over 1,000 connections to complete, so I only captured a few phone pictures. But at least it will give you a glimpse into our typical day during the irrigation season.

One connection done, only 999 to go!

Mongolia Bound

As I type this, Ruth is officially headed overseas. She left around 3:30 this morning with loaded suitcases, a heart full of anticipation, and as many hugs as we could give her before saying goodbye!

I'm already envisioning all the adjustments she'll be making in the coming days. Jet lag. Language barriers. Cultural differences. Climate shock (it's currently 23 degrees). New faces and friends. New challenges!

But it is beautiful to see her joy and peace, embracing this new opportunity. Excited for the adventure the Lord has in store. Trusting that He is leading and will give grace for each new stretching experience. Amazing times ahead!

Yesterday the family put in a huge day working in the fields (irrigation season is in full swing), but afterwards, we all got together for a send-off party. Around our house, that means there was an abundance of food, some good-natured teasing and laughter, prayer time, and lots of hugs all around.

We love you, Ruth!

I know Ruth would covet your prayers today as she travels -- and in the coming weeks as she digs in to life in Mongolia. We look forward to hearing reports as she'll be checking in here on the blog with updates!

"For You are great, and do wonderous things; You alone are God. Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heat to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore."

Home Days

The blog has been silent. Which means our hands have been busy! We arrived home to find our garden overflowing with produce again. And believe it or not, these pictures were taken after local friends and family picked an abundance for their use. What a blessing! Almost every day we load up the canner and add to our freezer with more produce for the winter months.

Watermelon anyone?!

We use the butternut squash interchangeably with pumpkin in all those delicious fall recipes. Welcome pumpkin pie, custard, pancakes, muffins, bars, and lattes!

We've also been working on school full force, as its much easier to accomplish bookwork when we're not bouncing down the road in the bus!

Has anyone else noticed that these gorgeous fall days find you looking for any and all outdoor work to accomplish?!

And a bit of fall cleaning.

The men of the family have been working long days to complete several sandblasting jobs in between weekends of music ministry. Perhaps one day we'll get pictures of them in action, too.

A New Adventure

"I will praise You, O Lord with my whole heart;
I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High!
Psalm 9:1-2

Praise the Lord! I (Ruth) am excited to share with you some of the marvelous works of God! He has opened the door for me to spend 8 weeks in Mongolia. It has been incredible to see God put the many details together.

Over the past 3 years, the Lord has given me a growing desire to go on a missions trip. Since the beginning of 2013, whenever I would pray about a short-term trip, the country of Mongolia would come to mind. Yet this appeared like a huge impossibility because Mongolia is a very tight culture. I have been told that the only way to get a visa into the country is to have a written invitation from someone living in the country.

However nothing is impossible with our God!! He has provided an invitation through some recent friends who have lived in Mongolia for many years. They asked me to join them for a variety of opportunities, including first aid & health services (which are right up my alley)!

And because of several extra & unexpected jobs this past summer ... He has already provided the funds for plane tickets & living expenses while I'm out of the US! I am praising the Lord!! He is faithful!

Thus with my parents blessing & encouragement, I will be heading for Mongolia in just under a month. I greatly covet your prayers as preparations are made and throughout this new adventure God has in store!!
