I wanted to update you on Ron’s current situation. The doctors feel that his condition is stable so they have moved him out of the ICU. The results from the spine tap and back MRI have not yielded any diagnosis at this point. Ron is currently awaiting another MRI test of his brain as they have not ruled out the possibility of a stroke. Although initial tests did not show damage to the brain, the doctor said that sometimes damage doesn’t become evident until a day or two have passed.
On an encouraging note, Ron was able to move his right leg this afternoon for the first time, which is a definite moral booster for us and Ron. Our current prayer request is that Ron would be able to get more sleep.
While it is a difficult time for the boys they are surrounded by family and friends, so our needs at home are being met.
We are so grateful for the tremendous support, prayers and love we have received from you all. There are countless ways in which the Lord has showed us His love and care towards us and we feel so blessed. Yesterday before I left for the hospital in the morning, David, our 5 year old, asked me to read Ron the Scripture passage from Exodus 14:14. “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” We have been clinging to that word from the Lord and God is proving Himself faithful over and over.
We appreciate you all,
Thank you for your prayers. We really feel your love and God’s grace. The MRI from last night finally revealed and confirmed that Ron indeed had a stroke. We are grateful that we finally have an answer so that we can move forward with the next steps (physical therapy). Ron had a much better day today thanks to a good night’s rest.
We are planning on transferring him to McClaren Hospital on Monday (which is closer to the rest of the family). There he will begin his rehabilitation program. The doctors estimate that he will be there for the next 4-6 weeks before he can come home. We are praying for a quick and complete recovery of his speech and right arm and leg.
We are comforted by the words in Isaiah 41:13 “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you: Do not fear; I will help you.”
"Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart,
All you who hope in the L."
