In God is our Trust

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?

And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Our family had the special privilege of spending Memorial Day weekend with our grandparents in northeastern Iowa. It was a joy to help fill the local cemeteries with color -- hoisting dozens of large flags into the sky. Reminding us of how grateful we are to live in a land with such rich heritage and sacrifice.

How grateful we are for folks like our grandpa, who have faithfully served our country. Grandpa is a Korean War veteran, and we're so proud and thankful for him! A heartfelt thank you to each of our veteran readers! We love you, Grandpa!

And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."

"Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people."
Prov. 14:34

Thank you Wissmanns for your efforts in honoring our nation's veterans.

I always enjoy your posts Rachel, and Bethany's (I assume?) photography. :-)

I hadn't commented before, but the Patriotic Musical that you're working on for your city's July 4th celebration sounds like quite an exciting endeavor.

Rachel, your blog is such a blessing to us (I know you hear that all the time!) - so much so that I think it is a ministry in and of itself. I constantly read in the comments sections that people get a lot out of it. (Plus, the pictures are INCREDIBLE).

Anyway - just wanted to tell you that gratitude from people like your family make it an absolute pleasure to serve, and this post with all those American flags made us incredibly homesick. (In a good way!) We truly do live in the best country in the world and we're so proud of it.

Thank-you for that post!
It's so easy to forget our veterans, and solders who are working hard to fight for our freedom. We should pray for they, and their families daily, as well as for the solders salvation.
Beautiful job with the pictures as well!
God Bless,

What a wonderful post! So much so that the pictures, song, and story brought tears to my eyes. The pictures were so beautiful.
Please tell your Gpa thank you for me for his service for our country. I echo Kelsey Anne Hoppman; We really should pray for our soldiers, and their families daily, as well as for the soldiers salvation.
God Bless!
