Weekend Hospitality

With the brisk, winter temperatures freezing our Nebraska landscapes, we just finished a weekend full of warm fellowship and lively fun.

Some of Andrew's missionary buddies from Ukraine joined us for a couple days and rolled up their sleeves to work and play alongside us. [Thanks, guys!!] Between the lively recounting of mission field memories and the ever-energetic conversations, our home was ringing with laughter and activity all weekend!

With thanks to our uncles and a recent deer/truck collision, we had four deer to butcher on Saturday. It was great to have all the extra help!

[Homeschool moment -- "Now children, notice the bone structure here...."]

Scrubbing clean in the icy outdoors. Brrrr!

Our cutting crew -- so fun to have Abi join us!

The guys did our grinding for us.

And the packaging -- sausage, deer-burgers, and canned venison.
It's wonderful to have so much nice, fresh meat!

Sunday afternoon we braved the cold weather for some ultimate football.

"Catch!!"

And the perfect way to conclude the frigid outdoor sports -- fresh donuts and hot chocolate! Mmmmmmm!

The donut-eating crew!

we have fellowship with one another"

Although I'm not a fan of venison, I think it's great that your family worked together to get it prepared for your use. Must have been a lot of work!

Isn't it great how our Lord provides sustenance!

You guys are lucky in that you can keep road-killed deer, in Alaska the State takes possession and distributes it to charity.
