The Countdown

Today marked the "1 Week" point for Andrew -- as next Tuesday we will be on our way to Omaha with his summers worth of luggage, banjo in tow. I'm sure there will also be a plenteous share of hugs, smiles and probably a few tears as we say goodbye and watch his plane taxi down the runway.

Today is also the "4 Week" point for Bethany and I as in only four more Tuesdays we'll go through the whole process again (minus a banjo). For the first time traveling to the other side of the world.

As we have been preparing, praying, and seeking the Lord for His best in the upcoming weeks, I have been encouraged by thoughts in Psalm 51, most especially verses 11-13...

"Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me...
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.

Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You."

It is as we are humbly leaning on HIS strength and purifying hand that He is able to make us into usable vessels for the furtherance of His kingdom. This is a challenge whether I am at home in my comfort zone or thousands of miles away in an unfamiliar culture. [smile]

Thank you for your prayers as we treasure this last week filled with a multitude of family projects having next Tuesday as the big 'deadline' -- and also for our hearts as we prepare for a summer of new adventures in trusting the Lord!

On the practical side, we have also seen God provide in such an amazing way for many of our practical needs this past month. Strange as it may seem -- with as much travel as we do, our family realized that we didn't own any decent luggage! None! And with all the airline travel upcoming this is quite a complication! [smile]

So you can imagine our excitement to discover that a very high quality brand luggage was recently on such a huge sale locally that we couldn't even find a comparable deal online. And they even had the colors we were hoping for! What a blessing!

Even to the smallest of details.

Our God cares.

And so we treasure this special week as we know many changes are on the horizon.

"O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise." Ps.51:15

Western Weekend

"Oh, thanks to the Lord!
Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!"

"Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wonderous works!"

"Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!"

"See the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!"

"Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders and the judgements of His mouth."

"He is the Lord our God;
His judgements are in all the earth."

" He remembers His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded for a thousand generations."

"Who can utter the might acts of the Lord?
Who can declare all His praise?"

"Blessed are those who keep justice,
And he who does righteousness at all times!"

"Blessed be the Lord God of Israel
From everlasting to everlasting!
And let all the people say "Amen!"

"Praise the Lord!"
Psalm 105 & 106 (parts)

The Land of Clear Skies...

...awe-inspiring scenery, and warm fellowship of the believers. Yes, we're back in Montana/Wyoming for an extended weekend of revival meetings and encouragement of the saints. May our hearts be renewed in the freshness and truth of God's Living Word!

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

"Ummm....let's try that take again..."

"Okay, so I think we'll get it next time around. Maybe one more time?!"

Yes, days in the studio are always a challenge as instrument and vocal parts are recorded and scrutinized...and re-recorded once again. Thankfully, we've found a studio that we really like working with, making the project much more enjoyable! The tracks actually went down really well and we had many moments of smiles and laughter intermingled.

Many thanks for your prayers last week. I think the official count is 11 songs completed thus far, with the possibility of adding a couple more in a few weeks when we head back again. We are very excited about this project as it includes many songs that are often requested, plus a couple new ones that have recently ministered to us personally.

Due to the upcoming travels, etc... we are unsure of the actual release date but we'll keep you informed. Please pray for us as we continue to work on details such as pictures, layout, copyrights, and finishing the mixing/mastering process!

Still smiling!

"Okay, so THIS will be the final take!"

Getting ready for Daddy's Song.

Trying to wait patiently in the studio.

Ready to go!

We were surprised to find our previous CD hanging on the studio wall!

"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
2 Cr. 9:8

Pool Party

In addition to many hours in the studio this week -- recording update coming soon [smile] -- we were also able to help Daddy's sandblasting business during the annual 'pool season'! Donning our work clothes, we had a couple big hours of 'sand-scooping'. Oh, the joys of these warm evenings!

Heave Ho!
Our bucket carriers

We were sure thankful for some willing helpers who made the project go so fast!

The busy crew. Don't you just love those teamwork projects?!?!

Heading to the Studio

"Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass."
Psalm 37:5

Yes, it's that time again -- time to load up and head for the studio in Omaha for three full days of recording. Please keep us in prayer as we work through all the big -- and little -- details it takes to prepare a project! We will keep you updated, so stay tuned.....

Looking Back

Ahhhhh! After a final night of marathon driving, the bus has once again pulled up to the familiar property we affectionately dub, "Home". While it's good to unpack and resume our daily responsibilities here, we have also been reflecting on the fruitful and blessed days of this past week.

Many, many thanks to those of you who kept us in prayer as we journeyed. It was a joy to see many of you along our route and we were humbled by those of you who drove great distances to fellowship with us. We are grateful for you -- and the way the Lord uses His people to encourage and uplift one another!

As Bethany once again captured some precious moments (love you, sister!), here is a quick glimpse of our past week --

Discovering spring treasures.

Any chance to be outdoors, our guys hunt for energetic activities -- especially on these wonderful warm days!

Baby goats -- only hours old!

The only sad part of seeing dear friends is having to say 'goodbye' all too soon!

And finally, we had such a blessed prison service in Wisconsin on Friday afternoon. It was a dreary, rainy day as we walked along the razor wire to the far side of the complex. What a joy it was to reflect on the fact that our Hope and Joy isn't dependent on outward circumstances.

We had about 80 men in attendance and they were all in rapt attention during the whole service. Once again, we were only able to enter with those 18 and older, so we were praying through each song and adapting instruments and vocals accordingly. Flexibility, flexibility, flexibility! [smile]

I know many of you have read our testimonies of prison visits multiple times -- and have often heard how we walk away from the guard house with 'singing and dancing'. As we see the Lord answer so many prayers, our hearts are filled with rejoicing. Usually the angels are singing with us as men surrender their lives to Jesus for the first time. As I write this, I don't intend to be redundant... but each visit to a correctional facility is such a faith-builder as we see the Lord stretching us and working through our weaknesses!

And this time He had an additional surprise in store. After the service -- where six men committed their lives to Christ!!! -- the men gave us a standing ovation and surprised us with a precious gift. Through their community service program, they had made each of us a stuffed teddy or colorful afghan! They are all beautiful and unique, and will be a great reminder to keep these men in prayer. We look forward to visiting them again!

"Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works!
Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!
Seek the LORD and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!"
