Smiles from home...

The sun had long set in the west as we pulled into our hometown on Tuesday evening. And most of us were eagerly perched on the front sofas in the bus, arms loaded with clothes, luggage, and assorted other items -- ready to run up our porch steps and 'home'!

There's just no place like home.

As we've looked back over the past 6 weeks, we had to smile at the following 'stats' --
  • 5,938 safe miles
  • 40 Services (including 2 'Family Life' seminars)
  • 46 nights in the bus
  • 12 States & Ontario
  • Numerous laundromats
  • 2 family birthday celebrations
  • 20 gallons of Ruth's homemade yogurt (we like yogurt!!)
  • 18 blog posts
  • Met 2 baby girls named 'Alaythia'! [smile]
  • Hundreds of hours spent in fellowship, meeting new people, and deepening friendships.
  • At least 4 first-time commitments to Jesus Christ.

And those latter statistics are the reason we leave home. While the Lord opened many 'surprise' doors to see unique tourist sights on this trip, home is still too precious to leave for weeks at a time of mere 'sightseeing'. For us, each day as we gathered for family devotions or prayer before a service, we were reminded of our mission.

Again, we'd like to extend a big 'thank you' to each of you who have kept our family in prayer. We have made note of several specific answers to prayer --

  • We were able to pull together for family devotions much more consistently than on previous trips.
  • More one-on-one family times of fellowship.
  • Good health. Except for one evening in NY, everyone stayed healthy the whole trip!
  • New singing outfits
  • The Spirit of the Lord ministered through each service -- in spite of our weaknesses and imperfections.

So, while we treasure these few days of 'home-time', our hearts are filled with thankfulness for the goodness of the Lord, His mercies that are new each morning, and the personal and individual ways He wants to be involved in our lives.

What are you thankful for today!?

"Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works." 1 Chron. 16:8-9

Amazing! We are COMANNDED in the Bible to be thankful, and to praise the Lord and to give thinks unto Him...and how often do we do that?! For me, personally, not often.

Thank you so much for that reminder. I'm so glad you all are able to be home, too! I'll bet you're glad!

Blessings to you all!!!

P.S. I'm thankful for you guys today! :)

I can't list all of the things I'm thankful for, but a few: My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, my family, and having a roof over my head and food in my belly.

Glad you made it home safely, hope next time you trek to MI we will get to see you again!

Oh, we are so thankful to the Lord for bringing you all safely HOME! Thank you for the reminder to stop and think what we are thankful for. Sadly way too often life gets busy, and we overlook the thankfulness.

We're thankful that at the close of each day...God has been all that He said He would be. Don't we serve such an awesome God, that at the end of each day, He's always been all that He promised?! What a treasure!

Love you all,
The Rehm's

Well, glad to hear you're all home safe and sound! I haven't been following your trip as much as I'd like to- but I can still tell that God has definitely been working mightily.
I'm thankful we had the chance to meet you and hear you sing a few years ago. Since that time, you have blessed our family many times- through your cd's, your blogs, and even hearing you sing in person a couple of times. : ) God has definitely used your family in our life even though we've actually only talked a couple of times. May God bless your family abundantly above all that you ask or think! ~a (distant) sister in Christ. : )
