Rachel

(Shhh -- I'm hacking my sister's blog! It's her birthday!)

Happy 25th Birthday Rachel!

Rachel, what a joy you are to our home! I am so blessed to have a big sister like you, and praise the Lord that not only did He make us best of friends, but sisters to boot! Your selfless serving is beautiful to see -- you have truly made the joy of the Lord your strength! Whether it's traveling, almost (or past!) midnight chats, wracking our brains for ideas for our various 'predicaments', eating strawberry slushies on the River Walk, mulling over new blog post ideas, watching you excel in children ministries and homemaking arts, laughing over your latest 'blonde' moment, or seeing your beautiful character radiate in all you do, I truly treasure the times and joy we've shared!

This year I'm praying that the Lord will fill you with "the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and long suffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father."
(Colossians 1:9-12)

I love you!

And for all of you that don't know Rachel as well as I do (you poor souls, you!), I thought I'd throw in a few little known facts about Rachel:

  • she is 'missing' a knuckle on her right hand
  • she wrote her first song at the age of 11; we performed it later that year for a home school event in Seward
  • cuts all of our girls' hair, including her own (layers and everything!)
  • doesn't like peanut butter (except in Reese's pieces)
  • took ballet lessons at the age of 5
  • when babysitting her (at the time) 8 younger siblings, she held us spellbound for literally hours while she told stories (and I'm telling you, they were the best stories, ever!)
  • she wears contact lenses
  • Arm & Hammer toothpaste is the only way to go!
  • she initiated asking Jesus into her heart when she was 4, and recommitted herself to Him at 16

Bet you didn't know all that about her! [grin]

To celebrate her big 25 years, how about seeing if we can't get 25 birthday comments on here?! Don't worry -- if your the 26 person, please feel free to still comment! By no means do you all have to stop at 25! [smile]

Rachel, Rachel, Rachel...

When you were first born I have to confess that I was a little dissapointed that you weren't a boy. As the years have pasted though, I have again and again found myself praising God that his ways are higher than my ways and that he sent you as the first born in this household. Your encouraging cheerfulness, your love for Jesus, and your enthusiasum (sp?) has had a huge impact in the personality of our family. My prayer for you is that the Lord will multiply back to you some day in your own household the many blessings you have been in this household. Keep pressing into knowing Jesus and you will have life!

With Much Love,
Dad

Thank you, Rachel for your Godly example of serving...going the extra mile...cheerfulness...and allowing Christ to be your source of JOY! You're an inspiration to me(and I mean that!).

May God give back to you a hundredfold what you have given to me!

Aww, Happy 25th Birthday, Rachel! It's not quite midnight, so technically, it's still your special day! I hope you had a wonderful, God-filled day full of many special blessings. Thank you for the example of Christ that you exude on this blog. It's so neat to see how God has and will continue to use you for His glory. Many blessings to you, my dear. :)

A Happy, Happy Birthday Rachel, late. Again we missed your day, but not to worry now we have more things to say in our podcast. Woohoo! I'll not tarry long here since we will be sending you birthday wishes another way. God bless you as you have bless so many others. Everything others have said about you is true except for the competitive desert getting thing but then again that's such a minor thing. Blessings!

Hi Rachel!
Sorry we missed your Birthday... The one day I don't check your blog and you go and have a birthday on us... (Ron's been accusing me of "blog lurking" too often).
So, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!! We wish God's BEST for you this coming year!
We look forward to seeing you again in September, maybe, hopefully, sooner...? Either way, we'll be wanting to see that knuckle! ;)
Love,
the (Ron) Jasters

Happy belated birthday! Did you get the email I sent you a couple days ago? I was gone all weekend helping out in the kitchen at a Bible Camp in southern MI where my brother lives, so I didn't get a chance to check the blog- now I'm back and there's a great b-day blog for me to read! It's a nice blog, great picture, and I love the "fun facts" about you!
